The signpost points at the still active UK nuclear sites, giving their operating ages in place of distances. It situates the viewer inside the constellation of these burning nuclear ‘stars’ that ring our coastline and whose aesthetic and cultural centre of mass is closer to the monochrome ’50s England of the sign itself than to the 21st century- the imagined future they were once symbols of.
